What is an Approver?
An approver is someone who approves or denies roleplays in the unapproved section. They have been chosen by the RP moderators based on how friendly they are, how well they know their grammar, and how well they can give constructive criticism. They are not moderators, and the only powers they have are to move threads from the unapproved section to the DC RPs, or the Other RPs section.

Approvers will:

• Accept or deny your roleplay.
• Point out areas of your roleplay that can be improved.
• Offer advice on what can be changed or how you can improve your RP.
• Move your roleplay to the correct section.
• Be actively approving. {If you stop approving for a month, without reason, we will take you off of the list.}
• Remain neutral in a difficult situation.

Approvers will not:

• Correct all the errors for you.
• Insult your roleplay or deny your roleplay based on personal preferences.
• Be rude to you.
• Handle fights or drama.
• Allow personal opinions to get in the way of approving.

If you have any problems with an approver in your roleplay PM an RP mod. We will handle it. We reserve the privilege to remove bad approvers from our team.


How to Become an Approver:
We judge approvers on various performances. They need to be able to write with correct grammar and spelling as well as find errors in the grammar and spelling of others. They have to be friendly, and well-mannered. In addition, they need to be knowledgeable in the creation of roleplays.

To become an approver, we suggest you meet the following requirements, however, some of them can be ignored if we know that you are suited for the job:

• Minimal amount of one-liners typed in the current time period.
• Active thrice a week.
• Be considerate and respectful of others.
• Know your grammar, spelling, and what is expected in the unapproved section.
• Be willing to put approving before other personal enjoyment.

If you meet these requirements you may PM us saying why you think that you will make a good approver, and request to be given the test. From there, if you are accepted, you will begin the trials of the approver test. This consists of: 1) filling out the form and sending it to one of the RP moderators; 2) get as many RPs as you can approved in 2 weeks. After that, if you pass the test, you shall join the team of approvers.

Approver Testing
If you are interested in becoming an approver, there are two tests that you must take.

Test 1
You must fill out this questionnaire: approver test questionnaire (NOTE: Name means username, not real name)
These questions allow us to get a better understanding of you. There are really no right or wrong answers. However, they do tell us what we may need to teach some of you. It isn't a difficult part of the test. After you send the form to any of the RP mods, we will reply to you and let you know if you will be moving on to the second test.

Who to send it to: Devious_Bookworm, Khallayne, Walker

Walker has been handling them a lot recently, but we all work the roleplay section equally. =)


Test 2
If you are accepted by a mod after the first test, you will move on to the second. This test is meant to simulate what it is really like to be an approver. You will be given exactly two weeks to approve as many RPs as you can. The two week time limit can be changed if something happens in RL, but you need to inform us of the circumstances as soon as you can. You will have the ability to chose what RPs you want to work with and will be free to move about the Unapproved section just like a real approver. You can work with as many (or as few) RPs as you like. Just remember, we will be watching which ones you pick, how many you pick, and how well you work with the people you are approving. You will be expected to know how to handle your time as well.

After you believe an RP is ready for approval, PM an RP mod and we’ll look over it for you. The moderators will then state if the RP is ready for approval or not. If the roleplay is deemed not ready for approval, it will be the approver-in-testing’s job to determine what aspects of the roleplay aren’t ready. If you need help, PM a moderator, and we will offer assistance. This being said, you should be able to approve the majority of RPs without our intervention. An approver needs to be knowledgable and able to handle an RP on their own (a.k.a. we can’t be your perpetual babysitters *is shot*).

Note: Approvers, you may not approve the roleplays for the test. You can give them pointers, and help them out. However, if you think that it is ready for approval, simply say so in the thread. Moderators are extremely nitpicky for this stage of the testing, and thus even minor errors that would usually go ignored will be pointed out.

During the test you need to be able to point out/correct:

• Spelling errors
• Punctuation errors
• Grammar errors
• Syntax errors
• Content inconsistencies or lack of information
• All levels of roleplays

Test 3
There is none! You are an approver here.

What to Keep in Mind:

• When you send in an application, moderators make a joint decision. As such, expect a week's wait for proper discussion time between us before you get an answer.
• When you get an acceptance, please PM us back with what day you want to start the second part of the test. It's preferred you let us know a day before you begin at least, for your sake, not ours. Just know if you plan to start that very day you can lose a few hours of time in your testing. We want to maximize the time you have to do it.
• It's important to read the list of what approvers will and will not do. We seem to get a lot of misconceptions about what an approver's job is and that will help you understand better.
• If you're confused about something on the application, you are welcome to PM a mod to ask.
• You ARE allowed to retake the first test (or second for that matter) if you are rejected. We usually suggest a two month wait before you retake though, to give you time to learn more and be better prepared.
• You ARE allowed to ask why your application was rejected. We want to help you improve and are willing to work with you to fix any issues there happens to be.
• Do NOT delete the posts you use to crit an RP in one you got approved. We need those in able to evaluate you. Instead, contact a mod and we'll wipe the thread for the OP.

Right now, we will only have a maximum of 5 people taking the test 2 at once (unless otherwise specified). This will maximize the the time that we can work one on one with approvers, and it will also allow us to not get overwhelmed with 23 RPs to critique.

Nope, you don't need to redo number one; we still have a copy. You can start right into number two. Just tell us when you want your 2 week period to begin and it's all set~

I suggest that you PM all that were in the running before; I had NO idea that the test had been redone so I was just waiting for some sort of notification as to what to do next. I would like to reapply of course.

Also, a question: I've already given some critique to a few roleplays. Can I use those roleplays for my second test, or do I need ones that I haven't already worked on?

I think you didn't see my edit to my last post, but anyway:

So as long as we get one roleplay approved before the two weeks are up, do we pass? Or do we need to take on as many as we can and get them approved before the time period is up?

There is no set limit determined. You can guarantee that it is more than one RP, but we're not putting the limit out there. You take on as many as you feel you can handle at the pace that you feel that you can handle. At the end of the two weeks, we will evaluate what you did.

We didn't set a limit because people will always try to hit the least. x3 So, for now, you have no idea. It could be 1 it could be 6. Just do the best that you can do, at a pace where you are comfortable.

Test #1 sent in... *Crosses nail-bitten fingers* I dunno what's more nerve-wracking: waiting for the results of this application process or waiting for the results of All-State Band auditions... =S

Don't worry about this It's the second test you should be worrying over though. ._.

If I was still allowed to take the test, I'd be more worried about Test 2 too. I was booted at the third RP I was critiquing. *shrug* Still...

It's not that bad guys. -giggles- Though I remember being horribly nervous way back in the day when I was young, and girls were girls, and took my approver test.

At that point, Approver tests were easy. I'll just lurk around here, but I'm not joining after that giant PM you sent me.
