Zodiac Academy

 

In the night sky, you will see stars. Some of these stars make up what we call constellations. Among those constellations are twelve astrological signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. These signs have symbols, or guardians, that are associated with them. For hundreds of years, many have believed that humans are influenced by these signs, but it has never been proven. That is, besides to Them.

 

"They" are a group of 12 people all the same age and are generally referred to as The Zodiacs. They seem like average human beings from first glance, but each one of them possesses a unique power and guardian according to their zodiac sign. These powers were given to them at different times through a series of events (all are special to them) and were almost uncontrollable. In order to keep both The Zodiacs and society safe, a special academy was built by the government to help them learn to control their powers. The government isn't entirely sure what they are going to do with the Zodiacs once they graduate from school and must enter the real world, but they probably will work for the government to help protect the country or something along those lines. Other humans attend this school, just so it won't be so obvious, but there are only a few. If they are accepted into the academy and agree to attend, they learn about the school and the information known about the Zodiacs. They must have passed a tough placement test with sections for academic studies. If they pass that then they must thoroughly read the rules and regulations that the school requires all students to follow, including special rules like not giving any information about the Zodiacs and not taking pictures inside the school. Once they read and sign an honor contract stating that they will abide by the rules, they can attend the school.

If a human should break any of the rules (like using cell phones in class or something like that), they receive a detention. The Zodiacs have the same consequences for those. However, if a human should give information about the Zodiacs to anyone, then they will immediately be taken from the school and depending on how much they said, can even be arrested and taken to court. This does deal with government information after all.

On the other hand, if humans follow the rules and don't get in trouble, they can attend the school for free. The academy's actual education program is excellent and they have many great things to offer, so while it may seem difficult to stay quiet, it is a pretty reasonable deal.

Technically it's not the safest idea to have humans attend the academy, but that's why there are tons of staff around to make sure nothing goes on in the school. All teachers and staff are required to have at least five years experience in some form of martial arts and there's a special police unit that stay on watch at all times. Humans are periodically checked to be sure they haven't broken any rules and there is a limit to how many can attend the school (the maximum is 125 students).

Currently, all of The Zodiacs attend the academy. Those who have been here since the academy first opened have mainly mastered their powers and can live like regular humans again. With permission, they can go off campus and do what they want but they still must live at and attend the academy for safety reasons. Those who are newer only have a small amount of mastery, only enough to be able to get through a day without using their powers, so they must live in a special building on campus called the Zodiac Building where they can begin to learn about mastering their powers. They live in there for usually 2 - 4 weeks (depending on how fast they learn) until they are deemed safe by the headmaster of the academy and are then able to freely attend the academy.

 

The Academy

 

 

The academy, named Zodiac Academy (yes very secretive), was built in a rural area of the northeastern United States. It was not only meant to be for safety, but was also built to be beautiful. The reason for that was so each of The Zodiacs could enjoy the place they would be living in for the next years. The campus is very large, having beautiful gardens, courts, small lakes, and the school buildings.

First is the main building. It is the largest building of the academy and all of the classrooms are in there. It has five levels and a basement, but the basement is only used to hold the auditorium.

On the first floor are the "middle school" student lockers for grades 7-8. The second, third, and fourth floors are where the high school lockers are. On the second floor are the freshman (grade 9) lockers. On the third are the sophomore (grade 10) lockers. The fourth has the junior (grade 11) lockers and the fifth has the senior (grade 12) lockers. However, this set up is for lockers only. A 7th grader could have a class on the fifth floor and a senior could have a class on the first floor.

 

The Cafeteria

 

The next closest building to it on the right is the cafeteria. At 11:15, the middle schoolers leave the main building, walk through the courtyard, and head over to the cafeteria. At 11:55, they leave and the first high school lunch eats. Then at 12:35 the first lunch leaves and the second lunch goes.

 

The Dormitory

 

The closest building to the main building on the left is the dormitory. These dorms are available to only The Zodiacs.

There is an almost identical building behind the Zodiacs' dorms are dorms for regular humans.

(Dorm rooms are up the stairs, left for boys and right for girls.)

Everyone in the dormitory gets a roommate, no ifs, ands or buts. However, at the start of junior year they are changed.

 

The Gym, Courts, Pool, and Fields

Directly behind the main building is the gym and the courts. This is where gym classes or after school sports take place. The sports that the academy offers are:

Volleyball, Cross Country, Field Hockey, American Football, Tennis and Soccer/Football in the fall

Basketball, Indoor Track, Swimming and Competition Dance in the winter

Lacrosse (boys and girls), Outdoor Track and Field, Softball and Baseball in the spring

 

Zodiac Building

 

This building is the furthest back from the other buildings and only one of The Zodiacs and teachers are allowed in there. This is where their current powers are practiced and where new powers, if they should appear, can be mastered.

About the Guardians

 

A Zodiac Guardian is a mythical being sent to watch over one of The Zodiacs. Guardians don't live on earth; no one really knows where they come from.

Since most of The Zodiacs don't have much contact with their own parents anymore (minus letters and that stuff), the guardians may fill in as a parental figure, but that doesn't always happen. They'll stop by every now and then to check up on them and if they're summoned, a guardian will appear to help protect and fight for their Zodiac.

History: Rhys lived in a suburban town with his parents from the time he was born. He had a younger sister, Maria, and a Great Dane dog as well. His events happened when he was almost 14. He had a dream a few weeks before his birthday having to do with a man pouring a large jug of water off of a cliff and onto the town below. He always had strange dreams though, so it really didn't matter too much.

Then, a week after his birthday, Rhys began to get a series of bad migraines that no medicine could cure. He was out of school for the latter part of that week and his parents almost brought him to the hospital. But then the migraines lessened enough that Rhys could finally go back to school. Things were okay until he got into a fight with his sister after school one day. It was a pointless fight, but for some reason he got angrier than he normally did. It would have most likely been fine if Rhys's sister didn't push him. When she did, it was like he blew a fuse and all of a sudden his sister went flying into their living room wall from a blast of air. She was in the hospital for three weeks and was in a wheelchair for a few months afterwards. After that situation, his newfound powers were almost uncontrollable, he couldn't go to school, and no one knew what to do until the academy was built.

Once the Zodiac Academy was built, Rhys's parents had to send him away to live there, since he still couldn't control his powers. Once he got there though, Rhys picked up on how to control his powers very easily and is mastering it at one of the fastest rates of any of The Zodiacs.

Personality: Rhys is a generally good natured person. He's loves to help others and is one of the friendliest of The Zodiacs, getting to know others quite easily. However, he has an issue with trusting others, so he only has very few close friends despite his kindness.

Even though he is nice, Rhys has a stubborn streak and is quite rebellious. He's constantly getting himself out of some mess he got himself into but somehow (usually) gets away with it. He hates being told what to do and will often do things out of spite, which is what gets him in trouble most of the time.

Rhys is a big freedom lover and is highly independent. He likes working alone on things so he can do what he wants (since it's normally not the normal way to do things), so most of the time he'll be one of the first to take the opportunity to be alone when he can. But he can work with others as long as they can try to understand his way of thinking.

Fears and Insecurities: He actually has a huge fear of people abandoning him, which is why he normally doesn't get close enough with people for anyone to really be able to. He is very afraid of his own feelings, so he opts to not speak them and would much rather help others with their feelings if they ask. Apparently he gives good advice so he doesn't exactly mind.

Strengths:

• Despite how much of a troublemaker he can be, Rhys is highly intelligent and most of his wacky ideas tend to work. This (normally) shocks people.

• He sees things differently than most, giving him different perspectives to work from with things

Weaknesses:

• Even though he doesn't mean it, Rhys can sometimes come off as a know-it-all, which puts off some people

• He doesn't know how to deal with his own feelings and is constantly stressed

• He doesn't exactly consider himself a good person, despite what some people may say. To him, his negative traits tend to rule out the positive ones, so his confidence level fluctuates

Likes:

• Rhys is a big music lover, especially of alternative and rock, but doesn't really dislike a lot of music

• He loves helping others out when they need it or just volunteering to help out with things

• He likes when people listen to him and people who can have a nice, intelligent conversation with him

• He likes having debates because they're fun and both him and the other person/people can learn things

Dislikes:

• Rhys hates arguing with people who don't know what they're talking about

• He hates restrictions or strict rules and will constantly break them

• He dislikes clingy people. He finds it very suffocating and he can't be around them for all that long

• He also really, really hates getting cut off if he's talking. Just, no. Don't cut him off.

• A personal pet peeve of his is when people make repeated sounds or motions, like tapping their fingers on a table or shaking their leg. However, he tends to do this sometimes himself

Rhys trusts his guardian to protect him when he needs it and his guardian trusts that Rhys won't get into too much trouble. To Rhys, his guardian is like that of a parental figure, always watching out for him and scolding him when he gets into trouble, but he doesn't really mind it.

History: Aria is an only child who got most of what she wanted; when she didn't, she threw temper tantrums and had always been bossy on the playground when she was little. Her powers manifested early in the form of her peak physical condition, and she had no qualms with using her strength to get her way. While she was somewhat of a bully even in middle school, Aria defended her friends with her fists if they were harassed. Aria was a student who frequently got sent to the office thanks to her confrontational nature, but she would often be let off with another warning thanks to her place in the school as a star athlete in basketball and rugby.

At around age 11, her parents sent her to train in kung-fu part-time after school to teach her temperance and discipline and to burn off extra energy. The old Master is the only person Aria respects without question, after he throughly snuffed out her overconfidence the first time they met. Her fire powers hadn't truly manifested until after she was 15, during martial arts training, although some people have claimed that the air around Aria had always been warmer and smoke or sparks seemed to appear when she gets angry, or they could swear they could see a flicker of mirage-like ram horns when she is in the heat of battle.

Naturally, people got scared of the fire in her eyes, her fists, and in every breath she breathed out. That, and her uncontrolled powers (which have surprisingly never set any significant things on fire) frequently set off smoke alarms and sprinklers. With great relief for everyone else, Aria was shipped to the Zodiac Academy to make a name for herself over there.

Personality: Aria could be described as pushy and short-tempered if she doesn't feel she is doing anything useful, but her fiery passion really shines when she is active. A kinaesthetic person and a natural athlete, she feels best when on the field (literally and figuratively) where she can give it her all -- likewise, she expects her teammates to give it their all as well. But even if she knows the value of teamwork, if the team cannot reach an agreement she would rather charge into the problem head-first than sit around all day deciding.

History: With a beautiful model for a mother, one would expect Eirwen to be beautiful as well. Obviously, expectations are not always met. A little Eirwen had quite the sweet tooth and so instead of taking after her mother, she took after her overweight and rather short father, who did not model; instead he owned a large chain of successful hotels. It is needless to say Eirwen grew up in wealth.

However for all the things she could own, she was still mercilessly bullied in school where beauty was the most revered gem among the rich. It didn't matter as much when she was little and everyone was cute, but as kids grew up and got crueler, it became pretty clear that her baby fat wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. As she entered junior high, she told herself that looks didn't matter, the inside was what counted.

Then a prank that had gone too far broke her. She didn't think, didn't even mean for it to happen, all she wanted was to not be there; she wanted all those faces that laughed and ridiculed her gone. First stones started flying, they shot at random people, impaling into them like bullets. Then the ground shook and the ceiling fell.

Many people were hurt in that freak accident, including Eirwen, however she wasn't as hurt as she was supposed to be given her position in the accident. When she was rushed to the hospital, she healed faster than everyone else- faster than humanly possible.

After Eirwen was allowed home, she stopped going to school. She stopped eating, determined to lose weight. Then a girl who introduced herself as Virgo appeared to Eirwen, and the two befriended each other. It did occur to the lonely girl that Virgo was just a figment of her imagination, but she was too desperate for someone to talk too to care.

Eirwen's parents were very alarmed that their daughter was talking to an imaginary friend at her age. After quite a few failed attempts at getting their daughter help from a couple of different therapists, Eirwen's story reached the school, and she was recruited to join.

((Alright, sorry I'm a little late with starting but I had three projects due today/tomorrow and I needed to get those done. But now that I'm done, let's start!))

 

The morning sun shone through the windows of the academy's office and small songbirds sang from a nearby tree. Rhys could hear the faint humming of cars as they drove down the road. The Aquarian sat on a comfortable maroon chair in the waiting area, letting out a tired yawn. Today was the first day everyone would get their new roommates, but in order to get their new dorm keys they would have to come to the office. Rhys had plans for the afternoon, so had to spend his Saturday morning waiting for Mrs. O'Malley to give him his key. She said it wouldn't take too long, but it had been almost thirty minutes and he was still sitting there.

 

After what seemed like hours, the oak door to the headmistress's office finally opened and she stepped into the room. Rhys could hear her heels clicking loudly on the tile floor as she strolled over to him.

 

"Sorry for the wait Rhys," She apologized. "I had misplaced your key. You're in Dorm 1."

 

As she held out the bronze key, Rhys stood up and took it. "Thank you Mrs. O'Malley," He thanked the headmistress, who smiled.

 

"Have a nice day and stay out of trouble," Mrs. O'Malley told him, giving the boy a look. Rhys just grinned and responded with a "no promises!" before he took his leave, curious to see who his roommate would be.

The clacking of steps could be heard as a lone teenager made his way towards the boys’ dormitories with a key in his hand. He had a small smile on his face, eager to start a new schooling year and hopefully sharing a dorm with a person that he's friendly with. Luke sighed in annoyance when he remembered who he was paired up with in his middle school years. Aquarius had been such a pain to live with, he was so irritating and obnoxious that Luke just wanted to pull his hair out at the thought of him.

As the blonde teenager walked into the familiar building he so called home, he noticed that no one else had arrived, well that’s what he thought. Luke hauled his three large suitcases through the doors and merrily walked up the left flight of stairs. When he opened dorm number one Luke grimaced at how bare the room looked. Ugh, this is what I hate about Zodiac Academy. My old dorm was so colourful and filled with lots of posters and pictures, now I have to start from scratch all over again. As he studied his permanent living quarters for the rest of his schooling years, Luke failed to notice the male figure already making himself at home in the dorm. When Luke finally caught sight of the Raven haired man he nearly vomited out what he had for breakfast this morning.

“You! I have to live with you!?” he screamed in frustration at Aquarius, the water-bearer.

I bet the teachers did this on purpose! Everyone knows how much I despise Rhys, it’s like he’s the kryptonite and I’m Superman. I must be dreaming otherwise my life will be a living hell! Thought Luke as he tried slapping himself awake but to no avail he only received a burning pain on his face.

“Look here mermaid boy, don’t expect me to be all buddy buddy with you just because we’re in the same dorm.”

The shadow quickly ate up the sunlight on the carpet as Eirwen pulled the cord of the window with a swift and fluid motion of her hand, the binds quickly falling and covering the window. The tiny lone patch of sunlight had bugged her, it was to lonely so she decided to just shut it out. She turned around, looking appreciatively at the half of the dorm room she claimed as her own. It was almost looked like she hadn't just moved in. She had stored her clothes (neatly folded) into the small white closet the dormitory room had to offer, shutting it so nothing could be seen. She had brought nothing else but her books and school supplies with her. The books she neatly tucked away on the shelves while the school supplies laid out on her bed until she knew what to do with them.

Clutching a sketchpad and a pen to her chest, she exited the room not bothering to stick around to meet her roommate. She made her way down the stairs and out of the dormitory. It was a beautiful morning, she inhaled the air was cool and clean, fresh dew clung to the grass from the light shower an hour or two ago, the sunshine making it glitter, she could hear birds singing in the distance. It was a refreshing sight.

Eirwen walked along the cobblestone for a bit, wondering if she should have a look around but didn't entertain the thought of exploring the huge campus for long, instead choosing to settle herself on a bench in front of a huge cherry blossom tree surrounded by a big patch of grass and circled with a step of stone. Uncapping her black pen, she begun to sketch the scenery, putting the beautiful tree at the center.

Hozuki was... Apprehensive, to say the least. He had gotten his key very early today and, while he didn't really care who he roomed with - although he hoped to god it wasn't Scorpio again - he was apprehensive about one thing. His siblings. He knew for a fact that they were here. This year was going to be the worst. Well, maybe, it'll be alright if his sister didn't place a single dress near him and his brother didn't threaten to beat anyone up or act upon his threats... Oh, who was he kidding, this was going to be a horrible year. Noise startled him out of his thoughts. His neighbors were coming. Hozuki gave a fox-like smile and stood from his bed, getting his camera. He might be needing it. With his camera around his neck, he left his room and went to the source of the noise. Not a moment too soon as he stepped around the corner just in time to take a picture of Luke screaming and frustrated, face-palming. His grin widened at the thought of more blackmail material. It wasn't that he didn't trust Luke or even dislike him, no, they got on quite well, in fact. Gathering blackmail material was a hobby, nothing more. He looked past the frustrated boy and nearly cracked up when seeing Luke's roommate. Rhys. Aquarius and Leo, huh? This was going to be fun. Unfortunately, that meant he was probably rooming with Scorpio. But he could always ignore the other, there was no need yo get riled up. However, he was already feeling mild irritation at the fact that both of them had gotten taller, yet he was still short. Dang. Was he destined to be short for his whole life?

"Ohaiyo, Luke, Rhys. What a pleasant morning!" He chirped, wanting to tease them a little and better his mood.

Sophie was already in her dorm room, and she crouched on the floor next to her bed side table, shifting the hamster cage that was resting upon it. She set her head on the table as well and watched distantly as the brown puff moved around his cage. "What do you think of our new dorm, Muffin?" She mumbled as the hamster yawned silently in reply. Her clothes where already put away and she stood up, gazing out the window. Outside, she watched a little pale bird hop from branch to branch. Pushing the window open slightly, the girl let the sound of birds joyfully chirping drift into the room. She squinted her blue eyes at the sun. While she was really more of a night person, Sophie enjoyed seeing the world full of energy during the day. Wondering who would share the dorm with her, she laid down on her bed. Unconsciously, she twirled her necklace in her hand, a nervous habit, and made a quiet huffing sound.

Kath finished making her bed and smoothed over any wrinkles that might have gotten in. Her roommate hadn't arrived yet and frankly, she didn't know if she wanted her to. Her last roommate and Kath had had such rampant disagreement they had been split around Christmas. Kath had been alone for the rest of the year and had thoroughly enjoyed having the whole room for herself.

 

Nah, the higher-ups would let her get off that easy this year. The least she could do was hope that this year she would be roomed with a Zodiac. The Capricorn sat on the bed and toyed around with her knife. It was pink and tiny and had only a blade, a nail file, scissors and flimsy pair of tweezers but it had proved very useful. Kath opened and closed the nail file absent-mindedly, staring off into space. She knew she should have brought some books.

 

Maybe the lounge would prove to be more interesting?

She stared blankly at the key in her hand as she walked, she didn't want to go to her room. She had been told that was likely the first place she'd want to go, but she didn't trust her roommate. Oh sure she hadn't met her yet, but that didn't mean she wasn't a devious trickster... Or maybe just messy. Temperance shuddered, she was definitely not going to her room. Shoving the key in the pocket of her red and orange jeans, she looked up and around the courtyard. There were several trees in all variation of Fall colors dotted about. The tree right in the middle was even bright pink. It was a beautiful sight on the clear morning. The air was crisp and fresh, like a perfectly ripe apple. And a slight breeze carried the soft scent of flowers on its wings

 

It was almost an unbelievable sight. Temperance had lived in a trailer surrounded by litter, which her parents always made her clean up when she was free, and trees. The sound of cars speeding down the highway was never far, day or night, and the air always reeked of gasoline. To see and smell and touch such a beautiful and fresh place was overwhelming to Temperance's frail senses

 

Finally tearing herself out of her reverie, Temperance gave the courtyard another look over and quickly spotted another girl. This girl possessed a small notebook and appeared to be engrossed in writing something. Not knowing anyone at the school, Temperance shoved aside her immediate fear of rejection and decided to go say hello. Nervously, she crossed the courtyard, her stiff footfalls seeming to echo throughout the empty space. The trees suddenly seemed menacing, like they were all watching her, waiting for her to make a mistake. And true to form, she tripped. She misstepped and accidentally kicked herself in the back of the ankle, causing her to trip forward, twisting as she went. A small cry of surprise escaped her mouth as the air was temporarily knocked for her lungs upon landing. She laid on her back a moment, catching her breath. Then, she lifted her head and nervously sputtered out, "Hello."

 

Her greeting was barely a whisper, breathy and soft. Her heart pounded in her chest, she had totally blown it, the other girl would think she was totally weird now. Her yellow tank top, which was patterned with fall colored leaves, heaved up and down as she gasped for air. She felt so foolish, now everyone would think she was just a dumb klutz.

Luke turned his back towards Rhys and crossed his arms in annoyance. When will the teachers learn to never put a fire and water Zodiac in the same room? Ok, maybe Rhys wasn’t the element of water but come on! How can Aquarius be an air sign? Water-bearer , shouldn’t it be Air-bearer instead? Well enough thinking about Rhys, he doesn’t deserve my opinion of him.

Just as Luke was about to unpack all of his belongings, Hozuki came dashing into the dorm with a large smile on his face. Luke’s eyes brightened up at the sight of a fellow fire Zodiac but as soon as he saw the camera hanging from Hozuki’s neck, he straightaway went back to being depressed. Hozuki was well known for his blackmailing and if the school ever got hold of the photo that the Sagittarian took then it wouldn't turn out in Luke's favour.

"Ohaiyo, Luke, Rhys. What a pleasant morning!" said Hozuki in teasing tone, probably trying to aggravate the Lion even more.

“Claude, you know that I can’t understand a word in Japanese let alone speak it.” replied Luke with a frown on his face.

When Luke first set eyes on Hozuki he instantly thought that the fire Zodiac was a girl, so he treated him like one. Boy did he get a shock when he finally realised that his fellow Zodiac was a man, it nearly made himself want to go hide in a hole and cover his face from shame after flirting with a guy. After that little incident Luke never really trusted Hozuki, especially since the Sagittarian loved to take embarrassing photos and pictures of everyone and then use it for blackmail. Oh the shame if his school reputation was ruined, the ladies would never like him then. Anyway, the point is that Luke finally began to like him when he found out that they both shared something in common and that was their dislike for Scorpio. Myers was almost as bad as Kumeiga, almost.

When Rhys saw who his roommate was, he inwardly groaned. Why did he have to be paired with Luke of all people? They never exactly got along and he knew the fire sign despised him, so why couldn't he have been roomed with someone he got along with, like Hozuki? Sometimes he truly believed that this school just hated him.

Rhys rolled his eyes at Luke, knowing he was just a upset at he himself was... Maybe a little more. But that didn't mean that the name-calling didn't get on his nerves. However, he chose to ignore the Leo when Hozuki came over to them.

 

"Mornin'," Rhys managed a smile, leaning against the wall slightly. He was glad that there was someone here that he liked. Even though he was always a little wary of the Sagittarian, careful to not do anything that could become a blackmailing opportunity, Rhys believed that, of the others (besides the other air signs), he got along the best with Hozuki.

"I'm guessing you're stuck with Kasper again, huh?" He questioned, feeling a bit bad for him. He knew those two didn't get along that well either, so it must be hard being stuck together as roommates all the time.

Hozuki smirked sharply, knowing exactly what was going through Luke's head at his abrupt change of moods. He didn't mind Luke's distrust of him, what with his reputation and all - although he respected his fellow zodiacs and had never really collected blackmail material to actually blackmail then with, but more to amuse himself and tease them. Really, Luke's distrust was a given. When they had first met, Hozuki had known after the first few seconds that Luke had mistaken him for a girl and that Luke was, most likely, completely straight. However, Hozuki played along, finding it all very amusing, instead of informing Luke of his actual gender. The game had come to an end when they reached the Boy's dorms though, Luke utterly shocked at the revelation of Hozuki's real gender. Later though, they had become friends... Sort of. Hozuki didn't really make close friends, but the two of them got along quite well.

"Ohaiyo means 'Good Morning', Luke. How else would I greet you?" He chirped, mood already lifted away from his thoughts of being short. He gestured to Rhys and said, "He figured it out," referring to Aquarius' reply.

He then turned his attention to said Air Zodiac and gave a slight shrug. "Maybe. Considering what usually happens..." He sighed a little before smiling again. Hozuki enjoyed being with the Air Zodiac. He wasn't sure why, but they got along. Very unlike he and Scorpio. Probably had something to do with their love for independence and freedom, but who knows? He wasn't a psychologist like his sister. "Hopefully it'll be someone else, someone who doesn't care about what I do or bother me too much."

The lounge had been empty when Kath got there and it hadn't been long when she heard arguing coming from the boys' dorm. It only took her seconds to recognize Luke the Leo's voice. And where was conflict, that guy with the camera was bound to be there - what was his name again, something Japanese? Kath hadn't talked to him very much and she was bad with names to top it off.

 

Anyway, there was no telling whether the argument would escalate or not, so just to be safe, Kath got up and headed for the gardens. The Capricorn was really beginning to miss the luscious, slow-moving energy of it anyway.

 

Kath had barely taken a step onto the leaf-covered lawn when she saw a girl she did not recognize do the most epic faceplant she had ever seen, and cringed. That must have hurt a lot.

 

"Whoa," she said, walking over to the girl and extending a hand to help her up, "You okay there?"

Luke shot a glare at Rhys, “Don’t ever compare me to that little Aquarian again.” he said being the vain and big-headed guy he is.

Hozuki and Rhys seemed to get along pretty well in Luke’s eyes, probably because of their way too friendly nature. It made Luke slightly jealous at the sight of the two Zodiacs being kind and friendly to the other. Why couldn’t he have that kind of relationship with Rhys? What made him hate the black haired man in the first place? Meh, it’s probably his weird attitude and personality that put me off. Nothing to worry about besides, it’s not that I want to be friends with him.

"I'm guessing you're stuck with Kasper again, huh?" said Rhys.

Luke raised an eyebrow at Hozuki and burst out in laughter, “Wow, I feel so sorry for you man! Having to live with Kasper as a roommate two times in a row is such bad luck! Hopefully it’s not him although considering that the teachers put me with Rhys again, it’s a fair chance to say that you may have to wake up each morning to be greeted with Myer's face.”

Luke felt sorry for the Fire Zodiac, he knew that Hozuki and Kasper weren’t the best of friends, kind of like him and Rhys.

Eirwen hated it when she was so engrossed into a book that she felt like she was inside of the story, completely able to block out and ignore everything else the same thing applying to drawing, then someone would come along and just snap her out of it. So when a brightly colored with long black hair girl made a small ruckus and ultimately snapped Eirwen out of her 'zone' she tried not to look annoyed at the person that interrupted her.

Her annoyance quickly melted to a bit of concern as she quickly found out that the small girl had tripped and in between gasps of air let out a tiny hello. Eirwen did not recognize this girl at all but was immediately reminded of her small and rather clumsy Yorkshire Terrier back home.

Eirwen opened her mouth about to ask the girl if she was okay when another dark haired girl (Eirwen quickly recognize her as a zodiac, she just had no idea what the zodiac's name was or what her zodiac even was) beat her to it. Feeling a bit embarrassed at being talked over, she shut her mouth and watched as the zodiac helped up the possibly new girl.

Kasper walked down the corridor towards his assigned room, the note depicting the direction and dorm number clenched in his right hand. In his left, the large trolley case that carried the majority of his belongings he had brought from home, on his back was a rather average sized back pack mainly carrying his electronics, such as his laptop. Kasper turned a corner, in the process taking a quick glance down at the paper to make sure he had the right dorm number.

 

With a set of earphones placed firmly in his ears, he was oblivious to the outside sounds that the 'trio' were making just a few doors down as he slid his set of keys into the door. He had arrived at his 'new home' for the next year, a home he would have to share with another. As the door opened, Kasper took note of his room mates posessions across the room, feeling a sense of familiarity with one or two of the items, as if he had seen them somewhere before. Shrugging it off, he pulled his trolley case in and placed it against the remaining bed before plopping down on top of it. His sneakers were discarded absentmindedly along the floor just beside it as he quickly made him self comfortable.

 

He had no real interest in who his room mate was for the simple fact that he did not get along with any of the other male zodiacs, therefore regardless of who it was he was paired with, his luck would have been equally as bad. Luke and Hozuki were both of the fire sign, you did not have to be a genius to figure out why the pair of them and Kasper did not get along. Unlike them though, this relationship between their elemental signs didn't play that big of a role in Kaspers everyday life like it seemed to do for theirs. Water was superior to fire, that was simple fact. If they had a chip on their shoulder against one of life's facts, that was not his problem.

 

Rhys on the other hand was different. the animosity between them was not as great as it was between the fire zodiacs and the water zodiac, yet due to his close relationship with Hozuki, Kasper seldom interacted with the air zodiac.

Temperance saw the girl start to say something, but then be cut off as another girl came over. With one person standing over her and another she had landed just in front of, Temperance felt crowded. At the same time, neither had made fun of her for falling, though she didn't trust the first hadn't been about to tease her. It wasn't the best situation to be in, but it was better than a lot of other ones. She waved aside the second girls hand, wanting to at least show some ability to do things herself, and pushed herself up onto her elbows, groaning softly as she went. "I'm fine." She breathed.

 

In truth, Temperance wasn't fine. Even though nothing had come of it, she was still mad at herself for tripping. She was kicking herself so hard mentally she was starting to get a headache. On top of that, she was still winded. Normally such a fall wouldn't have her struggling to breath so long, even with the fresh air she was still having trouble. Realizing there was now an awkward silence, Temperance struggled in a deep breath and made an attempt to fill it.

 

"So, um, hi." She said nervously, her voice slowly becoming stronger as her breathing stabilized, "I'm Temperance, sorry for tripping, I'm really clumsy."

Now her voice was up to its normal standards, which was still fairly quiet and breathy. And she was beginning to breath properly again. She realized now that she had been struggling with her breath as much due to her nervousness as the fall. She kicked herself mentally again for being such a total loser.

Apparently, Temperance didn't need any help, so Kath just shoved her hands into her jean pockets. Temperance was a strange name but it wasn't like she had picked it out herself. And she probably knew it already, so there wasn't a point in mentioning it to her.

 

"Temperance? Nice to meet you, I'm Kath. I'm a Capricorn, y'know, with the earth and nature stuff. You new here?" Kath's tongue was starting to run away from her but she didn't really care, "Because I haven't seen you here before. Would you like someone to show you around?"

 

The other girl Kath did recogize, although she completely failed to match the face to a name.

Btw, if I write something my characters are saying in italics, it's Japanese or they're speaking Japanese but I'm too lazy to use a translator))

 

Hozuki sighed, knowing that what the others were saying was probably true. He sighed. "Unfortunately, you're probably right," he agreed. "But it'll be fine as long as we mind our own business. Unlike you two, me and Myers don't go at each other's throats at every disagreement. We've mastered the art of apathy well enough, even if Myers doesn't know the meaning of 'compromise'." It didn't really matter too much to Hozuki. As long as they didn't interact more than necessary, they'd be fine in a room together. Although, he was pretty sure the other wouldn't appreciate him bringing any affairs into their dorm room. He wasn't as bad as Luke with the whole playboy thing, not even near the other's level, but he does occasionally have lovers both male and female, provided that there's no strings attached. Oh well, he'd deal.

 

He frowned uncharacteristically and bit his lip. The only problem he had with this year was two certain individuals that would, more likely than not, become his teachers. Yumeko had hinted it over the phone and Hajime had looked particularly smug when video messaging Hozuki. This year was going to be chore... No, worse than a chore, since he actually didn't mind doing them.

"I don't think that we're supposed to enter the zodiac dorms."

"Does it look like I give a ?"

"Oya, for a policeman and former leader of our high school disciplinary committee, you sure have little regard for the rules."

"Former policeman, or have you lost the capability to comprehend our change of occupation? Also, if you're so worried about the rules, what the are you doing following me?"

"Damage control, of course. God knows how barbaric and violent you are."

"Like you don't make it worse. Hozuki likes me much more than he likes you. You were the one that tormented him with your idiotic behavior when he was younger."

"You say that as if anyone can stand being near you."

The pair of twenty-five year olds continued to bicker in Japanese as they walked with one destination in mind: their younger brother's dorm room. They ignored everyone and everything around them, eyes not even looking at each other as they talked. Yumeko walked gracefully, regally, with an air of cold indifference around her. Her brother, Hajime, on the other hand, walked quickly, irritation and impatience pouring from him in waves.

 

As they neared their destination, Hajime threw open the door to the room of Sagittarius and Scorpio, scanning the interior. "Oi, trash," he shouted to his sister, "Did you get the wrong room? He ain't in here."

Yumeko, who had been left behind and only just caught up, raised an eyebrow at Hajime. "Why don't you take a closer look, fool. It's obvious that this is the correct room considering that Hozuki's belongings are scattered here. Also, you're being really rude you know," she curled her lip in disgust, "you should greet the occupants of the room and you really shouldn't just barge in." She looked at the intimidating taller man expectantly, but when all he did was snarl at her, she rolled her eyes and pushed passed him, greeting Kasper with a smile. "Hello there. I apologize for my brother's rudeness," she said politely, a slight Japanese accent coloring her words, "you are Kasper Myers, yes?"

Kasper stared at the brutish thug that had just burst through his door, the scar on his face doing very little to convince Kasper that this man was anything more then a ruffian. His behavior aside, Kasper had noted that the man made little to no acknowledgement of his presence in the room, a little gesture that irked him ever so slightly, after all if you were going to break someones door down, it was only common courtesy that you address the occupant of the room in the process.

 

Kasper pulled his earphones out of his ear and was about to address the gorilla of a man, before he stopped.

 

""Hello there. I apologize for my brother's rudeness... you are Kasper Myers, yes?"

 

Spoke a lady that just about managed to squeeze past the taller more uncivilized of the two intruders. "Regardless of the fact that the two of you have just broken into my dorm room, isn't it common courtesy to introduce yourselves first before asking about another?" he stated rather bluntly, now sitting on his bed. If they or at least she knew who he was, then they were most likely part of the school faculty and judging by the cavemans response or to be more precise, 'lack of response' to Kaspers presence in the room, they were more likely here for his room mate. That still did not give them permission to brush aside common etiquette, nor did it mean that Kasper had to oblige and answer their questions willy nilly.

Rhys huffed slightly at the mention of him and Luke being at each other's throats. "Not my fault..." The Aquarian muttered, his eyes focusing on the floor instead of at Hozuki. While it was true that him and Luke did argue a lot, he usually wasn't the instigator and could deal with just ignoring Luke if he was getting annoyed. Honestly, he'd rather not argue with anyone, but the fire sign just got to him when he would constantly get mad at him.

 

Rhys was about to make a comment to Hozuki again, but then a noise from somewhere down the hall got his attention. It seemed all the way down at the end of the hall, but the air sign heard it like it was right next door. "What was that?" He asked, lifting his head to look in the direction of the noise.
