Posted September 16, 2014 Like the current site layout, the home page hasn't been touched in a while. While it may not date back as far as 2007, it hasn't changed much since biomes were introduced. So, it is again time to show off a refreshed part of the site. This time, a new home page. The content has been bumped over a bit to make room for a login form as well as an oft-requested feature: news, pulled directly from the forums. The "Welcome to Dragon Cave" text is not visible when logged in, so none of the important links (that is, the map/the biomes) are pushed down. This is part two in a series of preview topics to give everyone a taste of what's coming. Expect more of these topics in the future. Nothing here is final, and things may take a while to see the light of day, especially with the holiday event season upcoming. Enjoy! Share this post Link to post

Posted September 16, 2014 That recent news second would be a godsend, since the way you do the New Release posts means I don't get emails about new releases that I specifically subscribed to the News forum to get. It still means I'll have to visit the website to find that out, but at least I visit every 3-4 days to get new cave-born eggs, so I'll be likely to see it pretty close to the release day...just not close enough for my liking. Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) You've never read a newspaper, have you? I was actually a copy editor for three years on the university paper during undergrad, but that's neither here nor there. I'd like for "The Cave" at least to be centered because it looks out of place to me if that's going to be the only header there. The headers on the right column ("Log In" and "Recent News") aren't so noticeable and they're fine if you want to go with the newspaper vibe, but it's not something I'm necessarily a fan of. Posted September 16, 2014 I like this new layout. Like others already said, the news on the home page is ideal for people who don't normally use the forums. This way they're still updated with the news. I think the idea of showing an adult dragon on the mainpage is great. And it would be even better if it changes with each visit/refresh of the page, so that new visitors will be introduced to dragons we already have.
